Alternate Hypothesis

The alternate hypothesis, denoted by H1 or Ha, is the hypothesis that sample observations are influenced by some non-random cause.  It is the hypothesis that is to be failed to reject (accepted) if the null hypothesis is rejected. An alternative hypothesis is one in which a difference (or an effect) between two or more variables is anticipated by the researchers; that is, the observed pattern of the data is not due to a chance occurrence.
